Google rebuilds its measurement stack: Meridian GeoX is open to all, first-party data gets a number
On September 10, 2026 Google announced a three-part update to its measurement stack. Data Manager is being integrated directly into Google Analytics and Display & Video 360; Google Ads is getting a Data Strength Uplift metric that calculates the additional conversions recovered by a first-party data setup; and geo experiment library Meridian GeoX has left beta and is generally available globally. No rollout details specific to Türkiye were given.
Google announced a measurement update in three parts
In a post on Google's official blog The Keyword on September 10, 2026, Nipoon Malhotra, VP of Ads Analytics, Insights, and Measurement, laid out a three-part measurement update. The opening line: "We're giving you new ways to improve your measurement stack for the AI era." The first part unifies first-party signals: Google said it is directly integrating Data Manager into Google Analytics and Display & Video 360 to manage and activate first-party data across tools. The second covers Meridian upgrades: the geo experiment library Meridian GeoX, introduced in beta earlier this year, is now generally available globally within Meridian. The third is a new measurement playbook. The post also includes a virtual registration call for Google's Rethink 2026 event. Search Engine Journal noted the same day that GeoX was first previewed in May 2026; PPC Land traced the news to a livestream on the Google Analytics YouTube channel on September 9.
The numbers: 26% incremental ROAS, 11% more Search conversions, and a 31% claim for GeoX
Google's figures: advertisers who connected offline and app data to Data Manager saw an average 26% lift in incremental ROAS; those using enhanced conversions got on average 11% more Search conversions than with standard conversion import. The Data Manager API is now universal, built on IAB Tech Lab's Event and Conversions API standard. The new Data Strength Uplift metric in Google Ads calculates the additional conversions recovered by a first-party data setup; advertisers who raised data strength with the Google tag gateway saw an average 14% conversion lift, over 20% in Demand Gen campaigns. GeoX is an open-source library for causal geo experiments on any ad platform; Meridian gains agentic capabilities for data quality checks, error resolution and real-time model-building guidance, and brand signals such as Branded Google Query Volume can now go directly into models. Per PPC Land's livestream report, the GeoX product manager cited budget savings above 31% for large advertisers and a difference of over 94% in experiment design generation time versus other open-source solutions, internal comparisons without sample or methodology. Meridian core library product manager Katie Monroe added that the JAX backend doubles speed and quadruples memory efficiency; JAX became the default backend in Meridian 2.0.0, released September 2.
Why it matters: measurement is becoming the business of proving first-party data's value
The common thread is putting a number on what first-party data is worth to the advertiser. Until now the return on enhanced conversions or the Google tag gateway was an assumption in most accounts; the Data Strength Uplift metric promises to turn it into a figure visible inside the account. The stated aim of integrating Data Manager into GA and DV360 is to manage and activate first-party data across tools; in practice that means less work connecting the same data to each tool separately. Meridian GeoX answers a different need: marketing mix models draw correlations from historical data, while geo experiments switch advertising on and off in specific regions to measure causal impact; per SEJ the tool works with non-Google media too. Not disclosed: a rollout timeline, country list or interface location for the Data Strength Uplift metric, and a completed rollout status for the Data Manager integration. The 31% and 94% figures appear only in the livestream, not in the official blog or SEJ's report. PPC Land's timeline: GeoX and Meridian Studio announced May 5, closed beta May 28, Meridian 2.0.0 on September 2 (JAX default, TensorFlow path deprecated, calibration module, channel recommendations), general availability September 9.
What it means for businesses in Türkiye: no Türkiye mention in the sources, but preparation can start today
First the boundary: none of the three sources mentions Türkiye, EMEA or any country-level rollout; the only scope statement is that GeoX is generally available globally and open source. When the Data Strength Uplift metric reaches accounts in Türkiye is unknown; check your Google Ads account regularly. A practical order still follows. First, for e-commerce and SMB advertisers, enhanced conversions, the Google tag gateway and offline or app data connected through Data Manager are the setups the metric will measure; if they are in place, the number reads from day one. Second, Meridian GeoX suits province or region-level experiments, but as SEJ notes it needs daily time series data, enough geographic variation, a GPU and a reserved experiment media budget; that threshold fits mid-size and large brands, not small budgets. Third, the 31% savings figure is an internal comparison for large advertisers, not a benchmark for a typical SMB in Türkiye. Fourth, a point the sources skip but Türkiye cannot: collecting first-party data and connecting it to Data Manager requires disclosure and explicit consent under KVKK, a step that belongs before the measurement setup.
The UNALSOFT view
Our reading: Google is building measurement as one system around first-party data. Data Manager carries the data, Data Strength Uplift says what it earns, Meridian runs the causal test on channel decisions. The order we recommend to clients in our Google Ads management work fits that picture: KVKK-compliant consent and disclosure first, then enhanced conversions and the tag gateway, then offline sales data; geo experiments last, for brands whose budget and data can carry them. We do not know when the metric reaches Türkiye; we do know what it will measure.
