Pinterest brings Visual Search Ads into its search results
At its Pinterest Presents advertiser summit on September 17, 2026, Pinterest announced a new ad format, Visual Search Ads. The ads get a prominent spot in search results and Pin closeups, and a click goes straight to the advertiser's site. The beta opens in the coming weeks; Performance+ controls and a Restyle feature came the same day.
A bid-based top response inside search results and Pin closeups
In its Newsroom announcement dated September 17, 2026, Pinterest said it introduced Visual Search Ads at Pinterest Presents, its annual advertiser summit. The format places advertisers prominently in search results and in Pin closeups to reach people as they search, compare and decide. Advertisers can bid for the top response and send people directly to their own website. Pinterest says the format supports lower-funnel objectives and works with Performance+, its AI-powered performance advertising suite. The beta reaches eligible advertisers in all Pinterest ad markets in the coming weeks, per Pinterest; Social Media Today says selected markets. Neither source gives an exact start date.
Priority Products for Performance+, self-serve A/B testing and a separate objective for app installs
Pinterest's case rests on scale: it says users run more than 80 billion searches a month, the vast majority visual and more than half commercial. CEO Bill Ready said the format lets marketers tap into a "rapidly growing form of AI-powered search" with a prominent placement at decision points, and that the ads are powered by Pinterest Intelligence, which Pinterest describes as AI-enabled visual understanding of images, products, taste and intent.
Priority Products, an addition to Performance+, lets an advertiser choose which products to push at key moments such as a seasonal launch, a promotion or a category drive while the automation keeps running. Self-serve A/B testing compares campaign strategies across creative and targeting and within Performance+. App Promotion is a separate objective built for app installs, now in global beta with qualified advertisers. Pinterest reports that one unnamed advertiser saw up to an 85 percent improvement in cost per install versus its previous workarounds; identity, sample size and period are not disclosed.
On the consumer side, Restyle is launching in beta in the U.S. and Canada: people use a photo to reimagine a space and test ideas at home. TechCrunch reports that a user photographs a room, prompts the AI to add wall art, furniture or decor or to change lighting, paint color and plants, and can click individual items to swap, erase or edit. TechCrunch also says Restyle is an early preview, with a broader rollout next month; Pinterest's own announcement gives no timeline.
A format that sits on search intent, and over 96 percent of searches are unbranded
Ready's keynote put the audience at 640 million monthly users, with record users for 12 straight quarters and Gen Z more than half of the audience. A second keynote figure matters more to advertisers: over 96 percent of Pinterest searches are unbranded, meaning people search for a product or an idea, not a brand name. Visual Search Ads put a bid-based placement on top of that search and send the click off-platform to the advertiser's site.
The second layer is automation versus manual control. Performance+ hands most campaign decisions to the system; Priority Products opens a door in that automation so an advertiser can say which products come first in a season or promotion. Self-serve A/B testing points the same way: measure rather than trust. No source gives a performance benchmark, click-through rate or return figure for Visual Search Ads, a general availability date, or any detail on how the format interacts with existing shopping, catalog or keyword campaigns.
The sources do not mention Türkiye, and the beta market list is not published
None of the sources mentions Türkiye. Pinterest says the beta will open to eligible advertisers in all Pinterest ad markets but does not list those markets; Social Media Today says selected markets. There is no official statement on whether Türkiye is included, so it should not be assumed. Restyle is in beta in the U.S. and Canada only, with no date for Europe or Türkiye. Priority Products, A/B testing and App Promotion carry no country-level information, and no source mentions pricing.
The news still matters for certain verticals in Türkiye. For businesses in visual categories such as home decor, furniture, fashion, weddings and food, Pinterest search behavior that is visual, commercial and largely unbranded means a chance to reach a buyer without being a household name. If the beta reaches Türkiye, the advantage goes to brands with a catalog and feed already in order: Visual Search Ads send people straight to the site, and traffic to weak product pages is wasted.
The UNALSOFT view
Our reading is this: visual search channels outside Google and Meta are worth a small test budget for brands whose product feed is ready. In our ad management work a new channel gets a measurable pilot before it earns a place in the main budget; Pinterest's self-serve A/B testing makes that pilot easier to run in-platform. We also value manual priority controls like Priority Products: a business with a known season calendar should get to say which product comes first. We do not know when the beta will reach Türkiye; a brand with its catalog in order can test from the first week.
